HOVI CABINS

The Hovi cabins have a spacious common outdoor area in addition to individual trams. These cabins offers a traditional cabin feel, including a fireplace. Marked parking next to the cabins and walking distance to everything on Beitostølen.

12 cabins distributed over two rows.
Each on a practical 50 m² and with a west-facing terrace.
Great accommodation for up to 6 people.
The cabins are located 300 meters from the centre, directly across the street from a grocery store, fitness center, wine store (the Norwegian wine monopoly) and sports shop.

A Hovihytte has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two bunk beds. One bathroom. Well-equipped kitchen, living room with cozy fireplace and TV. Dining area for 6 people. Free internet. All the cottages have a west-facing terrace.

Allowed with dog for an additional charge.

Private parking per cottage.

Lovely Warm Cabins and lovely resort

We went to the Hovi cabins on 21st December for 1 week. It was a 3.5 hr transfer from Oslo airport, the coach was comfortable and had a toilet on there. The driver did stop after 2 hours for a toilet break/shop. The cabins were located in a good area, opposite the Xtra supermarket and vinmonopolet (off licence) also opposite was the Bruggerhuiset bar which opened late afternoon and they would set up a fire pit outside and the kids can toast marshmallows. We were in cabin 7 which was the far left one up the steps. we had a lovely view of the mountains and the resort. The cabin itself was exactly what we expected and wanted. It was really warm in there so don’t worry about being cold, we had to turn the heaters off during the night as we got too hot. The kitchen is really well equipped and has everything. The oven and hob work brilliantly, i managed to cook a christmas roast on christmas day for the 4 of us without any problems. The beds were really comfortable and we had good nights sleep. the bathroom is small but it does what it needs to do. the sofa was big enough for the 4 of us. We had the fire going every night, we had some logs left for us when we arrived but we had to buy more from the shop, along with fire lighters. You were supplied with basic cleaning supplies, hand soap in bathroom, 2 toilet rolls, vacuum, dishwasher tablets (around 6), washing up liquid, a tea towel, mop, etc. As it was christmas time, when we got to our cabin there was a real tree set up along with baubles so you could decorate. Unfortunately the baubles didn’t have any string on them so we couldn’t hang them but i took our own christmas lights and hung them around the windows etc.

If i had some suggestions to possibly improve the cabin it would be for a bigger TV, the TV was small and i think alot of people stay in on a night so i bigger tv would be better. Maybe some storage above the bed of the double bedroom, there are only 2 side tables in the double room and no storage, there are only 2 small wardrobes in the bunk bed room so extra storage would be great and the last thing would be a mirror in the double bedroom, the only mirror is the bathroom so it would be beneficia of a mirror the bedroom with a socket close by for appliances.

Beitostolen in a whole was charming and beautiful. There is a really good, big sledging slope at the back of the Bergo hotel, this is only about a 2 min walk from the Hovi cabins, we spent alot of time here and was so much fun. We bought some black sledging discs from Intersport and they worked out about £6.50 and they were worth their weight in gold as we used them all the time. There are 3 supermarkets, we preferred Spar and Xtra. Spar serve hot food and you can get whole chickens, burgers, pork etc so that is really handy. We would go for a drink during the day at Lodge 900, this is right off the ski slopes so you would find alot of skiers in there. On a night its a really nice place for a drink or food. We would venture to the Radisson Blue for a drink and we used it for swimming once as well. it was expensive though the swimming, we went for about an hour and it cost £22 for 1 adult and 2 kids. The bar in the Radisson was really inviting, it was cozy and we went there a few times. The bar staff there were really friendly, helpful and made the experience really special. It was only about a 6 min walk from our cabin to the Radisson.

All in all Beitostolen was a lovely, family resort with lots of ski-ing, sledging and fun. There are plenty of nice restaurants and bars across the resort. We ate in Peppes pizza and it was really nice pizza, lots of variety.
Norway is expensive, you are looking at about £10 a pint and more for wine. We would of said everything was double of what you pay in the UK but we were expecting it. I would recommend Beitostolen and the Hovi cabins, its a real chilled vibe here and the views are beautiful.
